February 28, 2007
Norris Cylinder Company is issuing a mandatory recall
on certain A75-A420 size acetylene cylinders that
were manufactured in January and early February
2007. This does not affect "B" and "MC"
style acetylene cylinders. If you have knowledge
of a third party to which you have provided acetylene
cylinders covered by this notice, please notify
your Norris sales representative or me as soon as
possible.
Based on recent testing conducted by Norris Cylinder
Company, we believe that the possibility exists
that the porous mass in some of these cylinders
may settle beyond the acceptable limits as defined
by the US Department of Transportation and Transport
Canada. No accident or incidents have been reported
with the use of these cylinders but as a precautionary
measure, we are recalling the cylinders to insure
that the mass is within acceptable clearance levels.
The cylinders in question are to be removed from
service immediately.

here to view a drawing of the cylinder spud
and the stampings that indicates when the mass was
produced. Any use of cylinders with the spud
marking shown must be immediately discontinued and
the subject cylinders quarantined and returned to
Norris for re-inspection. This recall notice only
affects cylinder that contain the listed spud markings.

If you have any cylinders that are listed in
this recall notice, please contact Fred Grindle
at 1-800-527-8418 ext 644 and receive a return goods
authorization number (RGA). Norris will cover
return shipping costs and the replacement or repair
of the cylinders at issue. Following evaluation
of the returned cylinders by Norris, we will return
or replace, as necessary, such cylinders in as timely
a manner as practicable. The cylinders passing the
inspection will be identified to prevent confusion
on what has and has not been inspected and approved
for continued service.
Thank you for your immediate attention with this
matter. We apologize for any inconvenience this
recall may cause and assure you that the safety
and quality of our product are essential to the
proud Norris history. If you have any questions,
please contact your Norris sales representative
or me immediately.
Best regards,

Brian McGuire
